The Tradition
The Bwiti Tradition — The Study Of Life Itself
Bwiti is not a religion. It is not a structured belief system with dogma or hierarchy. It is a non-structured, non-religious framework of direct knowledge — built on the radical premise that a human being can understand their own life if given the right tools and conditions.
Origins & Transmission
Originating among the Babongo and Mitsogo peoples of Central Africa, Bwiti is passed through oral transmission — through the Firetalk tradition, where wisdom is spoken around fires in the language of story, symbol, and direct experience. There are no texts. The body itself is the document.
Music & Dance
Music is central to the tradition. The Ngombi harp, the Muogoungo musical bow, and percussion instruments create the sonic container within which ceremony unfolds. Dance is not entertainment — it is prayer. It is the body telling the truth that words cannot reach.
"Return to a State of Authenticity. Learn to Love Yourself Unconditionally."
The Bwiti tradition does not promise comfort. It promises contact — with the life you have actually lived, and the person you actually are beneath the accumulated layers of conditioning, trauma, and performance.
What happens when a person sees themselves clearly, without the filters of self-protection? The tradition holds that what remains, after the illusions fall away, is worth living for.
Foundation
Four Pillars of Healing
Breath
Return to a state of authenticity. The breath is the first and most immediate tool for re-establishing connection with the body — the place where authentic selfhood lives, before the conditioning of the mind.
Connection
Deep human engagement that goes beyond the surface. Most social connection is transactional. The Bwiti tradition cultivates the capacity for genuine presence — with oneself and with others.
Purpose
Manifesting one's gifts. Purpose is not found — it is excavated. The ceremonial process helps clear the accumulated debris of unprocessed experience, revealing what was always there.
Truth
Removing the obstacles to full potential. Truth is rarely comfortable. The tradition does not offer reassurance — it offers a direct encounter with what is actually happening in a person's life.
The Work
The Medicines
Primary Medicine
Iboga
Iboga is the sacred root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub, native to the rainforests of Central Africa. Within the Bwiti tradition, it has been used ceremonially for centuries — not as an escape, but as an encounter with the full record of a person's life.
Pharmacologically, ibogaine — the primary active alkaloid — interacts with the dopamine, serotonin, and acetylcholine systems simultaneously. It converts to noribogaine in the body, a metabolite that remains active for weeks to months, continuing the neurological reorganisation that begins during ceremony.
The experience is characterised by vivid autobiographical memory review, deep pattern recognition, and direct confrontation with the behavioural and emotional habits that have shaped a person's life. It is one of the most demanding experiences a person can undertake — and one of the most transformative.

5-MeO-DMT
5-MeO-DMT is a naturally occurring tryptamine found in several plant species and in the secretions of the Bufo alvarius toad. It produces a state of ego dissolution and unity consciousness — a complete, temporary dissolution of the sense of a separate self.
Where iboga takes you through the story of your life, 5-MeO-DMT shows you what exists beneath the story. The direct experience of being prior to the personal narrative can fundamentally shift a person's relationship with anxiety, fear, and the compulsive thought patterns that drive suffering.
Published research documents significant reductions in depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma patterns, alongside measurable increases in life satisfaction and mindfulness. The active experience lasts 20–45 minutes. The integration takes considerably longer.

Non-Negotiable
Safety Is Non-Negotiable
These are powerful medicines that demand respect, preparation, and proper medical oversight. We do not operate without safety protocols. We do not make exceptions for convenience.
Every participant undergoes a thorough medical screening before any ceremony is considered. This includes a review of medical history, current medications, cardiovascular health, and psychological readiness. A medical professional is on-site for the duration of every ceremony.
If you are not an appropriate candidate, we will tell you. This work is not for everyone, and saying so is not a sales tactic — it is the truth.
Medical History Review
Comprehensive intake covering all conditions, medications, and relevant history.
Cardiac Screening
EKG and cardiovascular assessment required prior to iboga ceremony.
On-Site Medical Professional
A medical professional monitors all participants for the full duration of ceremony.
SSRI / SNRI Prohibition
Participating on SSRIs or SNRIs is strictly prohibited. A supervised taper is required before ceremony.
Preparation Protocol
Abstinence from drugs and alcohol, dietary preparation, fasting, and electrolyte loading in the days prior.
